Wedding Proposal in Old Town Barcelona

David had been wanting to propose to his girlfriend for, well, truthfully as long as he could remember. They had been dating for six years, and he made the conscious decision to do this three years ago, and had just recently gathered the courage to do so. When he mentioned his story and the timeline to a travel agent over the phone, her response sounded a little amazed. She told him buckle up quickly and take the plunge as six years was quite a long time to date before marrying and quite frankly he was lucky that his girlfriend stuck around that long.

David himself was a little surprised at the agent’s response and explained that they were only twenty-four and had been dating since they were eighteen. He said that they went to different colleges and wanted to finish school before they made any future plans, and honestly neither of them was sure what they really wanted when they were eighteen. The travel agent paused and then laughed before saying she was glad to hear it and had been concerned that David may be lacking a certain quality that she didn’t go into detail about. Then she and David focused on making his proposal plans that included a trip to Spain and a weeklong stay in one of the Barcelona boutique hotels.

The trip ended up being amazing, and was funded in part by both of their parents who considered it to be a belayed graduation present. David and his girlfriend Amy enjoyed the nightclubs and restaurants and thought the local cuisine was fabulous. They went to the museums spent time on the beach. The one thing David hadn’t planned was when exactly he would pop the question. On their third day there they were sitting in a quite little café in Old Town Barcelona. It was slightly raining and they had a small candle lit while they shared a bottle of wine. Suddenly David bent down on one knee and equated their relationship to the beautiful and enduring city of Barcelona. With that he presented the diamond ring and asked Amy to marry him. She smiled, collected a bit of mist in her eyes and said yes.
