Art Collector Loves Cuisine in Cape Town Restaurants

Mathew Recently visited South Africa for the first time. He had been interested in traveling there for quite a few years though he didn’t seem to get the chance until six months ago. His main reason for wanting to go is that he is somewhat of an art collector and has been interested in obtaining some works from one of the local artists who lives just outside of the city of Cape Town. When Mathew was finally able to visit the country he was extremely excited and wanted to take in as many of the museum as possible.

Interestingly, while he did find some intriguing paintings that he purchased as well as a couple of masks, one of the aspects of his trip that he was most fascinated with was the food he encountered on his journey. Mathew has never been much of an eater and rarely even has an appetite. In addition, his he was so excited about the trip and the art he would find that he probably could have gone the entire week without anything more than light snacks here and there. It was a chance encounter with one of the painters that introduced Mathew to some flavor sensations he will never forget.

He was scheduled to meet the artist for lunch at the Savoy Cabbage, which he heard was one of the best Cape Town restaurants. He was more interested in getting to know the artist than the food, though he did look at the menu and order something to be polite. And that was all it took. He had the tomato tart, which he unexpectedly and unequivocally loved. He was also completely struck that enjoyed it so much. He then had the house-cured salami, which he was also entirely taken by. He enjoyed his meal so much that he decided he wanted to try more local restaurants and scheduled his future meetings at places he was interested in trying. Mathew knew he loved South African art before the trip, though he did not know he was going to love the cuisine almost most as much as the art.
